STRENGTH + MOBILITY
Strength and Mobility
It's impossible to count the number of times Leanna has heard, "Yoga is just stretching". While yoga does include stretching, a big part of the practice includes strength and mobility within the body. More and more athletes are turning to yoga because of the benefits of enhanced performance within their sport. Yoga often encourages lubrication of the joints in order to prevent wear and tear on injury-prone areas, ultimately leading to less injury. Yoga also encourages the smaller, stabilizing muscles to turn on which allows more stability within the joints, again, leading to less injury. Getting into those stabilizing muscles is something Leanna's passionate about and often incorporate into my classes. While you may find yourself doing some "interesting" flows, Leanna can assure you your body will thank you.
YOGA FOR ATHLETES
One of Leanna’s specialities is working with athletes. Yoga has the ability to mobilize the body which allows for encouraged lubrication of the joints, stabilize the deep, supporting muscles in order to prevent against injury, and allow the body to recover through the breath, yin (longer seated and supine postures designed to lengthen the connective tissues), slower, intentional movement and meditation. Leanna works with athletes one-on-one as well as in group settings. If you are interested in booking her for a team, workshop or private session, please click below.
"I always remind my students to come into their practice without judgement and instead, allow themselves to come into a space of acceptance. When we allow ourselves to set aside those overwhelming and tiring expectations, we are able to more freely come with an open heart. We no longer have to be the person we think we should be.
We can be exactly who we are."
