RELEASE + RESTORE

myofascial release

While building strength within the body is important, allowing the body to recover is just as important. When the body is able to recover, the body is more likely to perform properly when needed. Recovery can come in many different looks. This includes pranayama, or breath work, restorative poses, meditation and myofascial release. Myofascial release is one of Leanna's favorites. Imagine yourself getting a massage during your yoga class, but it's one of those 'hurts so good' massages. Myofascial release is basically the stretching and moving of the fascia so that the structure around it can move more freely, ultimately reducing pain and encouraging healing in the body.

YOGA FOR ATHLETES

One of Leanna’s specialities is working with athletes. Yoga has the ability to mobilize the body which allows for encouraged lubrication of the joints, stabilize the deep, supporting muscles in order to prevent against injury, and allow the body to recover through the breath, yin (longer seated and supine postures designed to lengthen the connective tissues), slower, intentional movement and meditation. Leanna works with athletes one-on-one as well as in group settings. If you are interested in booking her for a team, workshop or private session, please click below.
